Lewis Hamilton and Formula 1
So watching the US Grand Prix, Hamilton going well.....as dominant as their cars are (Rosberg and Hamilton) it does seem that as drivers, Hamilton is just a cut above...hopefully I aint speaking too soon but if he wins this, its his championship to lose..

whats this bollox about double points for last race? WHY!

talks about how "if ur wife asks u how much to spend and you know your spending more than you earn then its ur own fault"

then he says, when asked if the teams that were racing this weekend but threatened not to, came to him and asked to be excused from the race, he said "no and they should be glad they didnt otherwise.." didnt finish the sentence.

Re: Lewis Hamilton and Formula 1
Just so fucking annoying that Hamilton would have built up such a lead come Abu Dhabi by completely out driving Rosberg and yet lose it because of this ridiculous double points thing the FIA have brought out with a puncture, engine failure etc

The equivalent of a football side being 5 points away from the relegation zone and yet still relegated on the last day of the season, which kind of cunt makes these ludicrous rules ?

Re: Lewis Hamilton and Formula 1
I lost interest in F1 years ago. When I was a kid the drivers were real characters - Stewart, Fittipalidi, Hunt, Lauda, Sheckter, Prost, Piquet - need I go on?

These days it's more about winning the constructors championship which, in essence, is an engineering competition rather than a drivers championship, and it's fucking boring.

To be brutally honest, I really don't think there's too much between most of the drivers in terms of ability, but light years between the technological capability of the cars.

Jenson Button, for example, was amongst the F1
also - rans for years when driving for Williams, Bennetton/Renault and BAR/Honda when the sport was dominated by Ferrari technology.

fast forward to when Ross Brawn bought out the remnants of the old Honda team and signed him up when he had no dive and stuck him into a car with the Mercedes engine which, in short, pissed all over Ferrari in performance and reliability, and hey presto, the guy's gone from zero to hero.

The "sport" needs to decide what it wants to be, drivers or engineering. If it's to decide who the best driver is, stick 'em in a car with the same specification and let's see who comes out on top.

If it's an engineering competition, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Re: Lewis Hamilton and Formula 1
Imagine if.the PL announced that a win in the last game of the season was worth 6 points. There would be outrage. But then the PL isn't controlled totally by one man who is dedicated to achieving maximum publicity and therefore maximum revenues for his sport.

I don't like Bernie Eccleston, I don't like what he's done to F1 but I admire him as a businessman.

Which is strange because he's probably on a par with Sepp Blatter who I despise.

Used to be a great sport but can't take the plaything of a little tosser who should be in prison seriously... just pay 60m and escape scot free and then play God.... he is now devaluing all that has gone before... fuck off Ecclestone.

Haven't seen too much of Hamiltons raspberry brother of late or his grinning chimp of an old man. Personally, I hope Rosberg beats Hamilton on the double bubble points scenario.

Re: Lewis Hamilton and Formula 1
Sadly it's destined to end in tears. Hamilton will win six races in a row then engine failure in the last and Rosberg comes home to take double-points and the World Championship on a pitiful tally of 5 races to 11.

Just like his Dad Keke, he will win fuck all races and yet still beat The Brit when it matters. You just know it's going to happen.

Re: Lewis Hamilton and Formula 1
The win today proves beyond all doubt that Hamilton is a better driver than Rosberg. To prove he is better than the others he would have to race them all driving the same Mercedes as himself and Rosburg.

Re: Lewis Hamilton and Formula 1
The procession of winning teams has got a bit stupid. They need a serious revamp in this sport wi a focus on the drivers. That's what nascar has done very successfully and formula 1 seems to totally lack now

Re: Lewis Hamilton and Formula 1
I note that Hamilton's good run has coincided with him not doubling up playing for Arsenal as 'Theo Walcott'.
Must think he has it in the bag as he is back on the pitch again.

Re: Lewis Hamilton and Formula 1
It'll be a huge farce if Hamilton doesn't manage to win the championship given this double points scenario. If that becomes the case, then Rosberg purposely hitting him in Belgium will have won the title. If Hamilton wins Brazil and Rosberg doesn't finish, thats 49 points difference. Would almost be written in the stars that Hamilton has car trouble in Abu Dhabi and Rosberg takes it by a single point. However, Hamilton can now just follow him home twice to win the championship without having to worry about overtaking him again assuming no car problems.

Interesting that Rosberg has been decidedly second best since the radio ban. Seems like he doesn't know what to do when is engineer is telling him how to drive the car.

He's had some stick but he is a racer and wants to win and there's nothing wrong with that.
